Cruinneag III

A Bit About the Boat

Tradition Meets Luxury

Cruinneag III’s layout remains mostly original with only a few modifications over her 79 years. The lead bathtub, sadly, is gone, making room for the captain’s cabin which has a double bed, wardrobe and dressing table. There is a second small double cabin in the forepeak, again with a dressing area and closet and seat, and direct access to the deck through the hatch above. There are two further single cabins. One with a wardrobe, dressing table and a seat and the other smaller with a dressing table and cupboard.

The galley is fully equipped with a gas stove and oven, microwave, Nespresso coffee maker, toaster and kettle. We have a good sized fridge and a deep freeze.

The saloon is still completely original and always gets a ‘wow’ from guests. Mahogany cabinets with stained glass windows show the style of the 1930’s. The table seats 6 but the saloon sofas have comfortably sat more than 12 people! There is a flat screen TV, ipod dock and a selection of games in case the weather doesn’t play ball. We also have a Wii to keep kids of all ages entertained and we have wifi throughout when in harbour.

The main ‘head’ compartment is stylish and by most yacht standards, pretty spacious with mahogany cabinets and a blakes toilet. There is an overhead ‘rain’ shower and handheld shower here also.

Skylights, hatches and prisms ensure the entire interior is bright and airy.

The deck house (an addition in the early 1950’s) is roomy and very comfortable and allows guests a place to relax, read, sleep or just watch the world go by as well as shelter from rain or cooler temperatures.

The deck is spacious and with very little equipment so there is lots of room to move around, lounge or have a picnic, we have full canape covers to provide shade in the warmer temperatures. There is a deck shower (heated) for rinsing off after a swim, garden furniture for sunset drinks and outdoor music and lighting.

We have a Caribe 6 man dingy with outboard so anchoring is fun and hops to and from the shore are fast and comfortable. We also have a kneeboard for towing behind the dinghy, 2 kayaks, fishing and snorkeling gear on board so lots of fun to be had when at anchor.

All rooms are equipped with UK plug sockets so there is no problem charging phones or using hairdryers. We have converter plugs for most foreign plugs also. Towels and bedding are provided.

The entire aft section of the boat is separate from the main living accommodation and comprises of the engine room, navigation station and accommodation for 3 crew members. The generator is housed here also providing full power when on anchor.
